What is geothermal energy?
The Earth is a great solid mass that stores the proviniente energy of its interior. The terrestrial outside also receives for the action of the sun, together with the atmospherics agents as the rain and the wind, a great quanty of heat daily; and all this energy is stored in the underground. At not very deep subsurface levels the adequate conditions to capture the energy take place. This energy is transformed in heat or cold to the necessities of each housing or installation.
The geothermic energy of our applications is related to the surface geothermic energy or low temperature geothermic energy because we take advantage of the energy that it's stored at a few meters towards the interior of the Earth. It is a renewable and clean energy that is available almost in any place.
Apart form the enviroment benefits of using energy, with the current technology, an economic benefit exists thanks to the 75% of free energy captured (it's the energy that comes from the underground). The return of the investiment is quick and the maintenance is minimum. On the other hand, it's a renewable energy that allows to install other systems, as the solar panels that are required by the current normative and laws in new buildings.
Main Applications
The geothermic energy can be used when we have enoug land available or wherever we have water available from wells or dams. The geothermic energy allows to acclimatize housings without the support of other energy; so we can omit the heatings which work with fossil fuels.
It can be used in:
- Housings
- Sport facilities
- Climatized pools
- Industries and industrial processes
- Tertiary sector: Hotels, restaurants, campings, etc...
- Public or collective buildings
- Agricultural sector
- Other activities that require air conditioning or source of heat or cool
It can be connected to:
- Radiant floors
- Radiators
- Convectors of air (fan-coils)
- Air treatment units
- Air conditioning units
- Humidity extractors
- Kits for heating pools
- Other applications that work with hot water
In a geothermic installation we can distinguish three important components:
- The collector
- The geothermic energy heat pump
- The installation of air conditioning of the building
Advantages
- Architecture desing: Absence of elements in roofs and facades.
- Economy: Energy savings of more than 75% regarding the fuel, gasoil, natural gas, propane, etc... because the energy of the underground is free
- Effectiveness: Operation during all days, day and night, even with bad weather.
- Ecology: It doesn't use any fossil fuels. It repects the environment (neither polluting agents, nor smokes or particles are emitted to the atmosphere).
- Comfort: Silent operation.
- Easy to install: As much in rehabilitation as in new works the installation is simple.
- Long lifespan: Maximum comfort with minimum maintenance.
Geothermal Systems
| HORIZONTAL SYSTEM AT LIMITED DEPTH |
|
HORIZONTAL SYSTEM AT INCREASED DEPTH |
|

|
This system can be installed easily and at little cost. It is necessary to have a surface area equivalent to between one and a half times and double the total surface of the building to be heated. It is not necessary to lower the level of the entire plot of land. 100% of the surface area can be used.
|
|
 |
Highly suitable when there is a large area of land available. Highly productive. It combines the advantages of the vertical system in terms of production with the low installation cost of the horizontal system. Independet temperature control for each unit. Use of the buildings traditional heating system. Excellent value for money in terms of heating performance.

| VERTICAL SYSTEM WITH UNDERGROUND WATER |
|
VERTICAL SYSTEM WITH PROBES |
|

|
Makes it possible to produce heat and cold, at a very low cost, with free cooling during the summer periodl. It is very economical. Since it is an open system, it requires maintenance in part of its component areas. Use an underground flow of water or water-source as a source of energy. Use a vertical sensor (or antenna) if the area of ground available is insufficient.
|
|
 |
Enables the production of heat and cold. The system does not require maintenance, can be operated in any area of land or of a home, once it has been installed it does not occupy any space. It is the ideal system because it combines economy, good use of space and zero maintenance. It is the ideal geothermal system

|
| VERTICAL SYSTEM WITH EXISTING WELL |
|
VERTICAL SYSTEM MAKING USE OF BUILDING STRUCTURES |
 |
Makes it possible to exploit water-tables that are unused or little used. Makes possible the production of heat and cold. Since it is an enclosed system, there is no maintenance at all. Its installation costs very little. The system has the following characteristics: it is possible to exploit an existing source of energy without modifying the landscape. It requires a stable water-table.
|
|
 |
Through the supporting structures and the framework of the building, makes it possible to install energy batteries for producing. Since it is a closed system and it is installed during the course of the construction process, it is economical and does not require maintenance. It provides cold-heat-domestic hot water. It exploits existing cavities. The entire system is incorporated into the buildin
